The restricted or unrestricted certificates now require both the Stability Awareness for Experienced Fishermen and the Advanced Stability courses to be completed.
Anyone holding the Under 16.5m Limited or Unlimited tickets needs to refresh their Safety Awareness certificate every 5 year to retain it.
2023 -due to proposed changes to certification it will be a legal requirement to have a skippers ticket from 7m up to 16.5m on a UK registered fishing vessel.This will be known as an STCW Under 16.5M CoC and everyone will be subject to an eyesight examination.This certificate will be accepted in other nations fishing areas.The current Under 16.5m certificate will then only be valid from Uk port to Uk port.
This STCW requirement is to be enforced in the very near future.
